Week 4: I wanted pasta?!

We made it to Italy, and through the first month of our "trip"!

I have never really liked pasta, aside from the occasional mac and cheese.  So when Richard asked what we wanted to eat for our Italian Sunday dinner, he was shocked that I asked for fresh pasta.

However, I do enjoy fresh homemade pasta!  It just tastes better to me.  (Maybe it's all in my head.)  In fact, I have even made pasta before! The last (and only other) time I made pasta I was actually in Tuscany.  Fresh pasta is very simple to make and something everyone should do at least once!

We don't have a pasta maker or extruder, so our pasta is very rustico.  I kneaded it by hand, rolled it out with a rolling pin as thin as I could get it, and cut cut the dough into wide strips.

Richard made the sauce with a recipe adapted from Series Eats "The Best Slow-Cooked Bolognese Sauce" by J. Kenji López-Alt.

And of course, we served the dish with some scarpetta for sopping up all of that delicious sauce.

We are now officially in the month of October, so you know what that means?  We're heading to Munich next to celebrate Oktoberfest!  What will we eat?  What will we drink? See you next week!
