Week 2: Across the channel

Welcome to Week 2 of this series!  Last week we traveled to England for a Sunday roast.

To start our tour of Europe, we're hopping on the imaginary Eurostar and making our way south to France.


This Sunday's menu: coq au vin avec pommes vapeur aux herbes.



Did we use Google Translate to write the menu above?  Sure did.  I once tried to learn French as an adult by taking a 6 week one-night-a-week course.  I think the only thing I really learned to say was "papillon".

Luckily the chef (Richard), maître d'(Richard), and sommelier (Richard) for the evening all spoke English.

While we didn't enjoy this meal with a wine from France, we did open a lovely red blend from a local winemaker in Sonoma.  And if in my delusion I really commit to believing we're IN whatever destination we pick for the week, then a local wine is a French wine so HAH!
