Week 1: A Sunday Roast

Like many people, I've been watching a lot of Great British Bake Off during this quarantine period.  During a recent re-watching of an old season, the contestants were tasked with a signature challenge of Yorkshire pudding.  It gave me such a hankering for a Sunday roast that I asked my boyfriend and home cook extraordinaire if he could make me a Sunday roast that week.

He happily obliged and that Sunday we had a Sunday roast complete with tri-tip, gravy, roasted potatoes and broccoli, and of course, Yorkshire pudding.

That night, we decided that our little "visit" to the UK would be the start of a special virtual journey through the world, where we would "travel" to a new nearby country and eat a dish at least vaguely reminiscent of the destination if not strictly traditional.

So therefore, I bring you... week 1!  The UK!

  1. Love the little passport. Did you have a pint with that dinner?

  2. I made Yorkshire pudding once, when I lived in England. I liked it, although, like all English food it is very bland. Still, not as bland as Scandinavian food - I heard they have a spice that takes away all the taste. Uff-da. (BTW this is Martha AKA Aoifeblodeuwedd.)
